The Job Market is in confusion due to the explosion of AI! What is going to be the future of Job Market? Please take your time to read this detailed article about AI. So, you get more clarity on the Job Market and What jobs will be impacted by AI.

We feel confused when we get less clue about what is happening. If we understand what AI can do? And What is the potential of AI for jobs replacement? We get more clarity about our future.

Let me divide this article into three parts:

  1. Types of Jobs
  2. What are the capabilities of AI
  3. What jobs can be replaced by AI

Types of Jobs:

  1. Different Types of Jobs:
    1. Decision-Driven Jobs
    2. Process Driven Jobs

  1. Decision-Driven Jobs: Decision-Driven Jobs require the individual to make crucial decisions that significantly impact people and business. Decision-Driven Jobs often need critical thinking, responsibility, and insights into the situation.

Example 1: Let’s say I’m a Video Editor To edit the Video based on the user requirements. We can’t replace this Job with AI

Example 2: Let’s say, as a Video Editor, I want to change the background of my Video. I can use Stable Diffusion/Adobe Photoshop To create various generated images using Gen AI. But compatibility check of the scene with Video is again a decision-making job. So, Editor cannot be replaced with AI

  1. Process-driven Jobs: Process-Driven Jobs Revolve around established procedures, protocols, and routines. These jobs’ primary priority is consistency, speed, and effective execution of tasks.

Example 1: Let’s say, As a Video Editor, I want to add subtitles to my Video. Adding subtitles is a repetitive Job. So I can replace the Job with AI.

Repetitive Task: Listen to add the audio and convert it to Subtitles/Text

  • Doctors are Decision-Driven Jobs, and We can’t replace them with AI
  • Disease diagnosis comes under a Process-Driven Job. We can replace it with AI
  • Nurses are Decision-Driven Jobs, and We can’t replace them with AI
  • Documentation Processes or Processes driven by Nurses can be automated with AI
  • Software Developer – To Develop Netflix Kind of Websites, We can’t replace with AI
  • Simple Software Developer – Who can develop simple websites with standard functionality – We can replace them with AI
  • Cybersecurity is a Decision-Driven Job. We can’t replace it with AI
  • AI can replace Routine Processes in Cybersecurity

  • Routine processes within Agriculture can be automated with AI.

What are the capabilities of AI:

The capability of AI is dependent on the type of AI we are choosing:

Narrow AI: Narrow AI is an AI system designed and trained for a specific task. They don’t possess consciousness, emotions, or general reasoning ability.

Example:

  • ChatGPT, Google Bard, Siri, Alexa
  • Stable Diffusion, Mid Journey
  • Image Recognition

Artificial General Intelligence: AGI refers to a machine that can execute any intellectual task that a human can do. It is the most advanced form of AI, with generalized human cognitive capacity.

What is Human Cognitive Ability? With cognitive ability, we can interact with the world and find solutions for unfamiliar tasks. Cognitive ability enables humans to interact with the world around them, make decisions, solve problems, and communicate with others.

Let’s imagine ChatGPT is Artificial General Intelligence based on the definition of human cognition. ChatGPT must make decisions, and It must learn unfamiliar tasks.

All the automation we can see right now comes under Narrow AI.

Below are various Cognitive Abilities:

  1. Perception – Perception is the ability to recognize a person or detect a sound.
  2. Attention – Ability to concentrate on a specific task for a period while filtering out irrelevant information
  3. Memory – Ability to store the memory for short-term or long-term
  4. Language – Ability to listen, understand, read, write and speak and non-verbal communication
  5. Learning – Ability to acquire a new skill or knowledge through experience or study
  6. Problem-solving – Ability to identify the problem and solve it effectively
  7. Motor Skills – Ability to execute and coordinate physical movements.
  8. Spatial Ability – Ability to understand & manipulate spatial relationships
  9. Social Cognition – Ability to understand intentions, emotions, and beliefs
  10. Intuition – Subconscious Understanding or realization
  11. Metacognition – Ability to understand one’s strengths and weaknesses.

What Jobs can be replaced by AI:

Now, you get to know more about AI and jobs. Ask yourself the following:

  1. What jobs can be replaced by AI?
